Gerry Painter

I offer counselling to individuals, providing a confidential and safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings. My aim is to work together with you to understand you and your experiences, and how these may have contributed to your life, or thrown up difficulties and challenges. This in turn may help to provide a new perspective for the future.

My therapeutic style is integrative, with a base of the humanistic approach. I draw from a number of theoretical approaches so that I may work with what best suits you, and I strongly believe that the relationship that develops between counsellor and client is key. I offer my clients a warm, supportive, non-judgemental relationship through which they may hopefully gain a deeper insight into themselves, and therefore see opportunity for change.

Personal and professional development are important aspects of my work and ongoing training is a key part of this development. I worked as a volunteer at two counselling agencies in the Cotswolds throughout my training and continued to do so post-qualifying as well as working in my own private practice, this enabled me to work with clients with varying backgrounds and a broad range of issues.

I am experienced in working with young people and adults on a one to one basis, and have a special interest in points of transition or change and how this may throw up challenges in my clients’ lives.
